Whilst some will favour large screens with high resolutions, ~24″ Full HD models with high refresh rates suit some people’s needs and budgets just fine. The LG 24GQ50F (24GQ50F-B owing to black rear) is one such offering. The monitor offers simple styling, with dark matte plastics and a ‘penguin foot’ stand base. A dark blended ‘UltraGear’ logo in the centre of the bottom bezel identifies the series to which the screen belongs. The top and side bezels are dual-stage, including a slender panel border flush with the rest of the screen. Plus a slim hard plastic outer part. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick beneath the central region of the bottom bezel.

The monitor uses a 23.8″ VA panel with 1920 x 1080 (Full HD or 1080p) resolution. A 165Hz refresh rate is supported, alongside Adaptive-Sync – including AMD FreeSync Premium with a 48 – 165Hz VRR range plus LFC. We believe this is a VA panel from CSOT, more specifically. The monitor has a 3000:1 static contrast ratio, 178° horizontal and vertical viewing angles and 8-bit colour specified. A matte anti-glare screen surface is employed, whilst a flicker-free WLED backlight provides a 250 cd/m² typical maximum luminance and ~sRGB colour gamut. The included stand is tilt-only, with 75 x 75mm VESA holes included for alternative mounting. A 5ms grey to grey response time (caution advised) is specified, plus a 1ms MPRT response time using the MBR (Motion Blur Reduction) strobe backlight setting. An integrated low input lag setting, DAS (Dynamic Action Sync) is included. The ports are located above and to the right of the stand attachment point and include; 2 HDMI 1.4 ports, DP 1.2a, a 3.5mm headphone jack and DC power input (external ‘power brick’). An on-screen crosshair, FPS counter (refresh rate display) and ‘Black Stabilizer’ gamma enhancement feature is included.
